Why text first suits this better

Most dating apps push you towards a phone call quickly. This one doesn't.

Messaging is the default

Conversations here live in text. There is no nudge towards a voice call and nobody thinks it's odd if you'd rather keep it written.

Deaf, deafened and hard of hearing

Members range from BSL users to people with hearing aids or cochlear implants to those who lost hearing later. All of it is ordinary here.

Real people, checked

Free ID verification and video checks, and every photo and message screened before it reaches you.

Say how you communicate, once

A single line on your profile does the work. Whether you sign, lipread, use captions or prefer text only, saying so upfront turns it into information rather than a conversation you keep having.

  • Put your preferred way of communicating on your profile
  • Message without any push towards voice calls
  • Find members who sign, or who are learning
  • Meet somewhere well lit and quiet enough to lipread if that helps

Questions people ask

Is it free?

Yes. A profile, free ID verification, browsing and daily matches all cost nothing and no card is needed. You can send a set number of messages a day free and reply to anything a paying member sends you.

Do other members sign?

Some do, some are learning, and many don't. Putting it on your profile is the quickest way to find the ones who do, and plenty of hearing members here are happy to learn.

Is everyone here deaf?

No. It's a dating platform for disabled adults generally, so you'll meet deaf and hard of hearing members alongside people with other disabilities and people who understand.

Is there an app?

The site works in any phone browser and installs to your home screen like an app. Native iPhone and Android apps are available in selected markets.

Will I be pushed into video calls?

No. Nothing on the platform requires a voice or video call. Video verification is optional and you can verify with ID instead if you'd rather.

Have a look, no pressure

A profile takes a couple of minutes and costs nothing. See who is around before you decide anything.
